How are you? How are you feeling about everything right now?

I’m a little tired right now because I decided to wake up at 3am (I know, I’m stupid), but I didn’t want to miss the introduction for painting. I actually want to put in my best effort for painting.

The whole idea with Zoom is kind of nice in a way that I can wake up 2 minutes before class. I was surprisingly productive for painting but not so much for pre calc. I feel like focusing and getting myself motivated might be an issue for me with Zoom.

I’m still in home quarantine so I’m not allowed to leave my apartment flat for 14 days. Yesterday the police came to my apartment to make sure I’m home. They couldn’t track my location because I don’t have a Singapore SIM card.

Would you rather be the smartest or the funniest person in the room?

I would rather be the smartest person in the room just so I can have more time to do other things and not spend so much time on school work. I don’t really want to be the funniest person because being the class clown is just not part of my personality. Personally, I find class clowns or the funniest person in the room to be a little obnoxious. Especially in a classroom setting where people are trying to learn, the funniest person is not always appreciated.

Mid 3rd Quarter Reflection

This quarter is going so quickly and I can’t believe it’s already more than half way through the quarter. Last week was super hectic, I had so many test, projects and homework. Thus, I just spent the weekend catching up. For once, I managed to finish all my homework, and I was able to study ahead a little. However, I was really sad I wasn’t able to see the Spring musical. Somehow, my Boardingware request for the dorm shuttle didn’t go through, despite emailing Ms Tobin about seating and telling my friend to buy a seat next to me. I was a little angry so I decided not to go on Saturday (big reject).

I feel the stress kind of kicking in because we started having college counseling and I need to study for SAT on top of school work. For this quarter, I’m doing track and dance team so I have practice every day and sometime more than 2 hours. At least I’m taking a little break from my Bake A Wish club and cake decorating as I feel like I need more time for school and sports.

Would you rather be a regular citizen in a utopian society or a supreme leader in a distopian society?

I would prefer to be a regular citizen in a utopian society because I don’t want to be a supreme leader and I don’t want to live in a utopian society where I see people suffer. Even if it is not a utopian society, I would still prefer to be a regular citizen. I feel like this is enough and that’s all I want. Although I enjoy being a leader in some cases, such as clubs, I don’t want to be a leader for a country. I’m not into politics and trying to make everyone happy. I can’t deal with all the drama between countries and internal disruptions. If I become a supreme leader I would probably turn a utopian society into a dystopian society.

Would you rather be able to fly or be invisible?

Although being invisible is kind of cool but I don’t have any intentions of stalking anyone. Actually it would be nice for me to sneak out of the dorms sometimes like that. Just kidding, I’m a good dorm kid please don’t gate me. I can’t fly or be invisible. Also, it would be kind of awkward to get a lot of attention if I’m flying in the air above everyone.

Would you rather make an announcement everytime you enter a doorway or do a cartwheel every time you exit?

I would rather do a cartwheel everytime I exit a doorway because I don’t wanna ruin my first impression by announcing it to the world as this obnoxious person. If it’s an important situation, I tell others before hand so they won’t be weirded out. Also, doing a cartwheel is kind of cool. I really want to get a solid aerial so probably with all the cartwheels practices it would really help.

How is it going?

I’m surprisingly doing fine right now. I think I am able to deal with the stress better and use my free periods more wisely. Track just started and I’m trying to get into Long Jump. In addition, I’m also on dance team, thus I still need to figure out how I’m going to manage them together. I try not to think about school work before school during practice because there’s nothing I could do about it. Moreover, I usually don’t start until 7:30. I feel like the structured dorm routine really helps me. I can relate to that meme a lot right now even though I’m not a senior yet. (It’s not loading with the school wifi.)

Last time you got in trouble

The last time I got in trouble was actually something really small. I was video calling my parents, and they saw me wearing falsies and had my nails done. My dad was really angry that I was wasting my time trying to look good. Although my parents couldn’t really do anything to punish me as we are half a world apart, I did get scolded. They told me I didn’t look like a “student” and I should be learning in school. In my opinion, I feel like this is not justified because I actually don’t spend a lot of time on looks. Moreover, I work really hard for school and I can’t just study 24/7 as I got to do something else other than school. Also, it wasn’t like I was wearing makeup other than falsies or anything. Also, I had my nails done before the school year started and they have been on for weeks.

Dress Code?

Issues

  • Students are unable to express themselves
    • Culture
  • Students spend extra money and time shopping for clothes they can wear to school
    • student should focus on the educational environment instead
  • They way students dress may show their social class, thus some students might get bullied due to that
  • Dress code doesn’t really teach students how to dress in the real world and this will not help students during work interviews and jobs because every job has a different dress code too.
  • Dress code do not facilitate learning
  • Harder for students to get ready for school
  • Potentially create gender and cultural bias
  • Might force students to wear clothing that’s not fashionable
  • Students should use their own common sense to decide what’s appropriate to wear

Why dress code

  • Supposed to let students learn how to dress properly
  • Maintain a proper/ positive educational environment
  • Let students be disciplined
  • Teaches students conformity and obedience to authority
  • Reduces distractions
